Let me try that food… and then I'll tell you about it.

305 Alexander St, Vancouver, bc

I went for a nice little lunch at Two Chefs the other day. Tucked away, off the beaten track on Alexander street, I feel like I’m visiting a friends house when I come here. It’s very cozy inside with lovely decor and a friendly vibe.

Grilled Salmon burger, Basil Mayo, Cucumber.

I’ve been to Two Chefs many times for brunch, but this was my first lunch experience. They did not disappoint. The menu had many tasty treats, it was hard to decide! I went with the Salmon Burger (half fries, half salad). Look at the delicious hunk of salmon! Tasty and filling.

Chimmichurru Chicken Wrap: Chipotle mayo, roasted chicken, cheddar, tomato, rice

The chicken wrap was tasty as well, but I had to snap this pic so fast before it was demolished! The fact that there’s just the “two chefs” in the open-style kitchen means that you often have to wait awhile for your food to be ready, so we were starving by the time our food came. But, no complaints, I like this place.. good people.. a nice time was had by all.

1583 Coal Harbour Quay, Vancouver, BC

This past week I had my cousin from Jersey City, NJ visiting , so I needed to impress her with Vancouver’s scenery and foods. I’ve always heard good things about Cardero’s, but never been, probably because I’m not really a Coal Harbour kind of girl. But, Cardero’s has it all; beautiful waterfront views, fresh seafood and a weekday “Mussel mania” deal where you get mussels, fries and a pint for $12.

Unfortunately, I guess I didn’t read the fine print, and we arrived two hours early for “Mussel Mania”. Too hungry to wait, we stayed and resigned ourselves to paying double the price. Wah wah… anyways, it was delicious.

Thanks Cardero’s! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Delicious.

455 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC

The corner of Pender and Abbott. Lesbian nightclub turned sports bar. Just what Vancouver needs, another Donelly-esq “social house”.

So the place is super generic, nothing special..  about a million TV’s blaring from every corner. BUT I’d heard good things about this place, namely that it has cheap drink and food specials, so I went to check it out.

We got a couple burgs…

Garden Burger

The Garden Burger was ok. I’m pretty sure it was an Yves veggie patty… readily available at your local Safeway. The hummus and veggies on it were a nice touch, but overall it was just ok. The fries, as you can see are intensely deep-fried and heavy. Ugh.

Fiery Blue Cheese Burger

Fiery Blue Cheese (offered as Beef, Chicken OR Buffalo!), was also ok. It’s obviously got a lot going on, I mean look at that bacon peeking out from all sides! That scary mound of blue cheese! Look at that sassy red onion!

The thing is, these burgers were each $14.00. Neither of us felt like we ate $14 meals. I’d say these were $12 burgers at best. For $14 I want my burger to be extra special, not an Yves patty with a pile of greasy overcooked taters.

The Pint is exactly what I expected: Lame sports bar, ok food. Not for me, NUH-UH.

#147 – 1689 Johnston Street, Granville Island, Vancouver

I played tourist in my own city the other day and rode my bike down to Granville Island.

It took me a few laps of the food court area before I finally decided on The Stock Market for lunch. This place has been around for as long as I can remember. They do a couple different soups every day as well as a full freezer section where you can buy a large variety of their soups and stocks to take home for later.

Perfect little lunch.

Warning: If having Pigeons swarming around your ankles and Seagulls dive-bombing your head bothers you, you may want to eat inside.

So much good stuff in there!

I had the Red Snapper and Risotto Chowder. It came with Focacia bread. Delicious, Stock Market really knows their soups! NOM NOM!

Maybe after your soup you feel like you need a little something sweet? Head over to Pzazz and get yourself a scoop of gelato.

Then walk around outside enjoying the view and your delicious gelato. As long as you keep moving the birds won’t attack.

Thanks for a lovely afternoon Granville Island!

Cute lil’ Space

I’ve been to Grub many times now, and it’s never failed to impress. Definitely one of my top ten favorites in Vancouver.

At Grub they have a small menu of tapas, appetizers and salads, as well as a daily specials menu. They usually have eight specials, four meat varieties, two seafood, a vegetarian and a vegan option. Each time I’ve eaten at Grub I’ve ordered off the board and each time it’s been amazing. There’s also a three course prix-fixe menu option which is an amazing deal; appy, entree and dessert for $32. Can’t beat that!

Pescatarian Antipasto Plate

I ordered the Ling Cod special this evening. It consisted of a seared ling cod fillet with shellfish filled ravioli in a lobster bisque with mango and pineapple salsa. It was perfect.

Chocolate Bourbon Torte

Seriously, I feel like this place can do no wrong. Some of the tastiest, most well thought-out meals I’ve had. And a good wine list and cocktails too! There’s something for everyone at Grub, I highly recommend! NOM NOM!
