VIA TEVERE

1190 Victoria Dr, Vancouver, BC

Pizza again??!!!!

We went for a lovely dinner at Via Tevere last week. Love this place. This Neapolitan pizzeria is on Victoria Dr., just a couple blocks away from Commercial Dr. and its billions of pizza restaurants. One would think this place wouldn’t do well since it’s basically the only restaurant on Victoria, but it seems to always be packed! (And they don’t take reservations, so show up early and get in line).

We started with the “Rucola Con Limone” or Arugula with Lemon salad.

Rucula Con Limone

Napoletana
(Tomato, Fior di Latte, Anchovies, Basil)

Vesuvio
(Tomato, Fior Di Latte, Salame Piccante, Capicollo)

Mmmmmmm sooo gooood. But since I’ve already crowned Pizza Farina my #1 Vancouver pizza, I will have to give Via Tevere the honorable position of #2 Vancouver pizza. But it’s a reeeaaallly┬áclose 2nd.

Aaaannnd we finished things off with a monster slab of tiramisu, which was divine.

Go check out Via Tevere ASAP.

PIZZERIA FARINA

915 Main Street, Vancouver, BC

Welcome to pizza heaven

Love, love, love everything about Pizzeria Farina. They did it just right. The space inside is tiny but it works. A very small staff work behind the counter taking orders and making pizzas. They make 7 kinds of pizza, that is the whole menu. Minimalism at its best.

Menu

Now that the weather is starting to cool off again, I can indulge in one of my favorite winter activities. On Fridays sometimes we like to get two take-out pizzas from Farina and a bottle of red wine and stay home and watch TV. Also, we do P90X before we eat the pizza to make us feel better about ourselves. Don’t judge.

Margharita
(Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Olive Oil, Basil)

Funghi
(Mushrooms, Mozarella, Parmesan, Red Onions, Garlic, Arugula)

Out of all the Neapolitan Pizza places that have cropped up in Vancouver in the last couple years, Pizzeria Farina remains my favorite. I’ve eaten here a lot and it’s always perfect. Great space to eat in, easy-peasy for takeout. Love the Farina… NOM NOM!!

CAMPAGNOLO ROMA

2297 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC

Campagnolo Roma is a classy Italian restaurant in the Hastings-Sunrise area of East Vancouver.

We ordered a bottle of vino, and a couple pizzas. They did it right.

Margherita (with Arugula added)
fior di latte, tomato sauce, basil

Fiducia
leeks, sungold tomatoes, onions, provalone, garlic

Fiducia

Deeeeeeeelish! I love a good thin crust pizza! Not too soggy, full of flavor, fresh… I definitely recommend Campagnolo Roma. NOM NOM!

FAMOSO

Famoso Neopolitan Pizzeria: 1380 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC

I finally tried Famoso last night, the latest in the Vancouver “authentic” thin-crust pizza fad.

I was a little skeptical as I’d been told it’s the “Earls” of pizza restaurants. Meaning: it’s a chain from Edmonton.

The restaurant itself is nice and offers a lovely patio…. but they are not yet licensed to serve alcohol on it. So obviously, we sat inside so we could enjoy a lovely gewurztraminer. We got the Blackberry Arugula Salad and the Margharita pizza. The salad was nice, arugula, blackberries, goat cheese and candied pecans.

The pizza, on the other hand, was really nothing special. Very soggy with only the tiniest little pieces of basil to break up the sea of tomato sauce.

Margharita Pizza

Overall, Famoso was nothing special. And considering it’s located in the delicious pizza capital of Vancouver, Commercial drive, it’s not where I’ll go for my “authentic” Neopolitan pizza. I give Famoso a NUH-UH!!
